who'll have mercy on your soul?

[She hasn't budged. Since she returned to the hotel, B-ko's locked herself in her room and crawled to the corner of her bed, burying her face in the pillow. In here, at least, she could pretend that she was safe. The sheets smelled funny and the air too cool for her to imagine that she's home, but what little comfort there is she'll take it. Right now, the world beyond that door was too frightening for her to face.

She called him earlier, much too afraid to be ashamed, but she doesn't know if he'll really come. Knees drawn tightly to her chest, she shook her head against the pillow.]

[Of course he's scared too. He recognises that familiar chill that oozes under his skin, something disgusting and exciting at the same time. Here, the fear doesn't have a thrill to it, though. It only leaves something that tastes like acid in the back of his mouth and sends his stomach into spirals that won't let him sleep at night.

There was one other thing, too.

He died, didn't he? That should be a fact but he woke up in a grave as though it had just been a morbid joke. In light of that, some of his usual apathy seeped back into his expression and those dark-circled eyes held more disinterest again.

If the unusual became usual, then in the end, he would stop caring again. Maybe that was best. He didn't want to be lectured by someone but these impossible things were starting to annoy him more than anything.

He checks his phone again, then looks up at B-ko's door. No doubt the sound would startle her if he knocked, so instead he calls to her.]

B-ko...? Are you still in?
